Associate Banking & Finance (Common Law Qualified)

Our international Banking & Finance team in Amsterdam is a fast-growing, young and motivated team of specialists working in a full-service Banking & Finance practice in a uniquely global setting. To further strengthen the continuous growth of this international practice, we are seeking to recruit an Associate Banking & Finance (Common Law Qualified). 

About the Banking & Finance team 
With Jacqueline Bell’s arrival to Dentons in 2019, Dentons boasts a powerhouse team to address the growing needs of our globally-active clients. Our English law team in Amsterdam is at the forefront of the international trade and commodity finance, asset finance and syndicated corporate lending markets, managing multi-jurisdictional financings for both borrowers and financiers on a daily basis. In addition, our offering from Amsterdam encapsulates impact and development finance, project finance and sector-focused structured asset-backed finance such as receivables discounting, secondary debt trading and supply chain finance. The practice of our team is increasingly focused on the developing markets, with our work in recent years taking us (virtually) to the DRC, the PRC, Zambia, New Caledonia, Mexico, Brazil, Ghana, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Cambodia, and Kenya to name but a few. Jacqueline’s practice attracts high acclaim in all of the major legal directories. 

Key responsibilities 

You are part of our Global Banking & Finance practice and will be involved in international lending transactions with our Firm’s global clients. We offer realistic, high quality, bespoke solutions often for transactions in some of the world’s trickiest jurisdictions. Globally active lenders and borrowers seek our expertise because of our pragmatic approach to complex issues, and our strong international reach. The young and ambitious team consists of a culturally diverse group of professionals who are passionate about what they do, and work on the most innovative lending transactions. Within this team you will have an appropriate level of responsibility for transactions and will be in close contact with our clients directly, with both adequate supervision and junior resources to support your personal growth. You will have the opportunity to develop yourself, identify opportunities and follow up on your own initiatives. 

Who we are looking for 

• English or common law degree with approximately 2 to 6 years of working experience (ideally gained at an international law firm) 
• Experience in an international transactional practice (for instance gained in London, Canada, South-Africa or New-Sealand) 
• Experience in Banking & Finance (lending) is highly desirable 
• Fluent in English, any additional languages will be viewed positively 
• Adaptability to the ways of working of other cultures is a plus 
• Strategic and pragmatic advisor, able to translate legal challenges into ready-to-go advice 
• Ambitious and eager to learn 
• Appetite to build AI into your daily practice
