Senior Associate - Corporate - 7+ PQE (x2)

We are looking to appoint up to 2 Senior Associates to join our national practice, who will contribute to our growth and become leaders in our practice.

The team

You will be joining a high-performing, professional, ambitious and collaborative team led by partners who have practiced in New Zealand, London and Sydney, including Wook Jin Lee, Joy Wang and Keegan Toft.

We have a proven track record of recognising and developing talent, with genuine partnership potential for the right candidates. We support and reward excellence, as demonstrated by our recent promotion of Joy Wang to the partnership within 8 years of practice.

The work

The team has a strong transactional focus, and regularly acts on both inbound and outbound cross-border transactions. This team has handled many of the firm’s most high-profile matters, advising a blue-chip client base that includes:

• Listed companies – both NZX, NASDAQ and other recognised securities exchanges
• Private equity and venture capital fund managers
• Iwi and Māori enterprises
• Clients across a broad range of sectors, particularly technology, financial services, and energy

About you 

You may currently be a Senior Associate or a talented mid-level lawyer ready to step up. Ideally, you will have 7+ years’ strong corporate transactional experience and a strategic mindset.

You will enjoy ownership of matters, working closely with partners and clients, and mentoring junior team members.

The Overseas Investment Act frequently features in our work, so knowledge or experience in this area would be advantageous, though not essential.

• Forsyth Barr on the sale of 25% ownership interest to funds managed by Mercury Capital
• SSE-listed Huatai Securities and Huatai International Private Equity on the acquisition of Egmont Honey
• NZX-listed Steel & Tube on the acquisition of Perry Metal Protection, Perry Grating and Waikato Sand Blasting
• NASDAQ-listed Motorola Solutions on the acquisition of Noggin IT
• NZX and ASX-listed Serko on the acquisition of the GetThere business from NASDAQ-listed Sabre Corporation – including coordination of multiple jurisdictions
• Shuttlerock on the acquisition of Shakr Media in Korea and the US
