Solicitor (1-2 PQE)- Tax
Date: 24 Jun 2025
Location: Auckland, NZ
Company: Dentons
Dentons is the world’s largest global law firm, and a leading law firm in New Zealand. We are a firm that embraces change. We have the largest reach of any firm in New Zealand, and have unparalleled access to legal expertise in over 80 countries.
About the role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Solicitor (1-2 PQE) to join our fast-growing Tax practice. You will be a team player, and have a desire to build your career as a recognised Tax Lawyer. We are particularly interested in talking to candidates with experience in a “Big 4” accounting firm who wish to pivot to a tax career in a law firm and a role that involves no tax compliance work.
Your relevant experience and skills will include:
- Completed Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) and 1-2 years of experience in the tax practice of a law firm or in the tax division of a major chartered accountancy firm
- Hold, or eligible to hold, a practising certificate
- Attention to detail, efficiency, collaboration and adaptability.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Exposure to M&A transactions would be desirable, but not required
Who will you be working with and what will you be doing?
Join our growing Tax practice. This practice is led by Bruce Bernacchi (Partner) who has over 28 years’ experience advising on a wide range of taxation issues, including domestic and international corporate tax matters, M&A, indirect taxes and employee tax issues. You will also work closely with partners and peers in our firm’s leading corporate, banking, employment, litigation and property law teams.
This is a tax advisory role (we do not provide tax compliance services to our clients) so your ability to research tax issues and produce high quality written tax advice is key. The role will also involve working on M&A projects, including undertaking tax due diligence engagements and assisting in advising on cross-border and domestic tax structuring matters.
What do we offer?
We offer you the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and inclusive team that works in partnership with our clients, where you will get plenty of valuable experience as well as first class mentoring and career development. We are a future focussed firm and that ethos extends to our people too.
At Dentons, we can offer you top quality work matched with an outstanding firm culture. We offer competitive remuneration along with benefits that will make a positive difference to your work/life balance. We welcome applications for this position from candidates seeking flexible working arrangements.
