About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our rapidly growing Brisbane Construction practice group in a back-end role.
You will work directly with experienced partners who are committed to mentoring you and supporting your development and career. With strong growth in Queensland’s building and construction market, this is a unique opportunity to join a team with deep sector expertise, a reputation for excellence, and market-leading use of technology across both local and international matters.
You will work on a broad range of contentious matters, including commercial building and development, engineering, residential building, regulatory and insolvency disputes.
Working in a supportive and collaborative environment, you will work alongside an experienced team of litigators and benefit from Dentons’ market-leading learning and development programs. There are excellent opportunities for career progression within this team.
In this role, you will:
- Manage litigation matters from beginning to end with as much guidance as you need from a supportive leader;
- Work closely with the partner to provide mentoring and support to the more junior members of a collaborative and friendly team;
- Appear at hearings (including directions hearings, winding-up and creditors’ petitions, and interlocutory applications);
- Prepare detailed advice and evidence;
- Brief and work closely with counsel on defended litigation; and
- Be given the opportunity to build a personal brand in this practice area.
Our construction litigation team has a strong pipeline of work with blue-chip and government clients. You will be trusted with meaningful responsibility and supported autonomy, including the opportunity to progress your own files under partner supervision.
About You
In addition to a strong academic record, we are looking for someone with the following capabilities and attributes:
- experience in commercial litigation or back-end construction dispute resolution;
- an ability to build rapport with colleagues and clients;
- excellent attention to detail and research skills;
- an innovative, problem-solving mindset; and
- excellent time management and organisational skills.
Those with a strong background in commercial litigation are encouraged to apply. If you are enthusiastic and self-driven and want to be fully engaged in your career, we want to hear from you.
