About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer with 2–5 years’ PQE to join our rapidly growing Brisbane Construction practice group in a back-end litigation role.

You will work directly with experienced partners who are committed to mentoring you and supporting your development and career. With strong growth in Queensland’s building and construction market, this is a unique opportunity to join a team with deep sector expertise, a reputation for excellence, and market-leading use of technology across both local and international matters.

You will gain exposure to a broad range of contentious matters, including commercial building and development, engineering, residential building, regulatory and insolvency disputes.

Working in a supportive and collaborative environment, you will learn from an experienced team of litigators and benefit from Dentons’ market-leading learning and development programs. For the right candidate, there are excellent opportunities for career progression.

In this role, you will:

  • Progress litigation matters from start to finish under supportive supervision;
  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, submissions, affidavits, and other court documents;
  • Appear at hearings (including directions hearings, winding-up and creditors’ petitions, and interlocutory applications);
  • Prepare detailed advice and evidence; and
  • Brief and work closely with counsel on defended litigation.

Our construction litigation team has a strong pipeline of work with blue-chip and government clients. You will be trusted with meaningful responsibility and supported autonomy, including the opportunity to progress your own files under partner supervision.

About You

In addition to a strong academic record, we are looking for someone with the following capabilities and attributes:

  • a genuine interest in developing expertise in litigation in the above areas;
  • experience in commercial litigation or back-end construction dispute resolution;
  • an ability to build rapport with colleagues and clients;
  • excellent attention to detail and research skills;
  • an innovative, problem-solving mindset; and
  • excellent time management and organisational skills.

Those with a strong background in commercial litigation are encouraged to apply. If you are enthusiastic and self-driven and want to be fully engaged in your career, we want to hear from you.

This is a great opportunity for an early career lawyer to gain diverse and valuable experience in a collegiate and supportive environment.
