About the Role

We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a junior solicitor to join our dynamic Brisbane Banking and Finance practice arising as a result of an internal promotion. You will work alongside a high-performing group of lawyers on a broad range of banking and finance transactional and financial regulatory matters.

Our Brisbane banking and finance practice acts for a broad cross section of the market, advising all major and regional banks, a number of customer-owned banks, global banks and an increasing number of private credit funds. The team works in a broad cross-section of industry sectors including development and construction, property investment, agribusiness, aviation, logistics, education, professional services, hospitality and health. Additionally, the successful candidate will also work on the borrower-side of lending deals, acting for a number of offshore and local REITs, developers and corporate borrowers. The team also acts for both banks and corporate borrowers on cross-border transactions, working closely with our extensive global network.

Finally, you will also be involved in the provision of financial services regulatory advice as we help our client base stay ahead of the increasingly complex regulatory environment for lenders, with a particular focus on NCCP Act, Unfair Contract Terms, the industry codes of practice and AML/CTF issues.

This team is close knit, social and collaborative and this role will see you working across all clients.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will:

• have at least 12 months of relevant Australian post admission legal experience gained in front end banking matters, and up to 3 years’ post admission experience overall;
• possess a strong work ethic and desire to consistently exceed client expectations from a product and service level;
• demonstrate eagerness to be part of a high-performing team with a strong business focus;
• have a strong attention to detail, excellent analytic skills and a desire to expand your legal and commercial skills;
• be able to demonstrate resilience working in a fast-paced environment;
• be able to work both autonomously as well as in a team environment; and
• be available to work in the office every day.
