About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer with 2-4 years' PQE to join our rapidly growing Brisbane Construction practice group in a back-end litigation role.

Work directly with knowledgeable partners who are focused on assisting you in developing your skills and providing you mentoring during the early stages of your career.

With the continued growth in the Queensland building and construction market, this is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to join our Firm. Dentons' Construction team offers decades of experience and has a long-held reputation as a leader in the sector, operating with market leading initiatives and technology, both locally and internationally.

You will be exposed to a broad range of contentious litigation matters relating to commercial building and development, infrastructure, engineering, residential building and insolvency. You will work in a supportive and friendly environment and learn from an experienced team of lawyers eager to assist you in your continued growth. You will also have access to our market leading learning and development programs. There are excellent opportunities for progression for the successful candidate.

In this role, you will:

  • progress a litigation matter from start to finish under supportive supervision;
  • draft correspondence, pleadings, submissions, affidavits and other court documents;
  • be keen to appear at hearings including directions hearings, winding up and creditors petitions and various interlocutory applications;
  • prepare detailed and comprehensive advice and evidence; and
  • brief and work with counsel on defended litigation.

Our construction litigation team has a very strong pipeline of work, and you will be working with blue-chip and government clients.

You will have supported autonomy and will be given the opportunity to progress your own files with supervision from the partner. A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate based on skills and experience.

About You

In addition to a strong academic record, we are looking for someone with the following capabilities and attributes:

  • a genuine interest in developing expertise in litigation in the above areas;
  • experience in commercial litigation or back-end construction dispute resolution;
  • an ability to build rapport with colleagues and clients;
  • excellent attention to detail and research skills;
  • an innovative, problem-solving mindset; and
  • excellent time management and organisational skills.

Those with a strong background in commercial litigation are encouraged to apply. If you are enthusiastic and self-driven and want to be fully engaged in your career, we want to hear from you.

This is a great opportunity for an early career lawyer to gain diverse and valuable experience in a collegiate and supportive environment.
