Position Summary

 

Dentons Canada LLP is undergoing significant growth and is seeking a Coordinator, Marketing & Events to join the Calgary office. This role supports marketing, events, and broader business development activities, contributing to firm growth, client engagement, and profile-raising initiatives at both the local and national levels.

With a strong interest in marketing, events, and client development, the Coordinator will support multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. A key focus of this role is the planning and execution of high-quality client-facing, internal, and virtual events. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a collaborative team shaping the future of Dentons Canada.

 

Responsibilities

 

Event Management & Execution

    • Lead intake of event requests, clarifying objectives, success criteria, and alignment with business development strategy.
    • Coordinate end-to-end event logistics for client-facing, internal, and virtual events, including attendee lists, invitations, venues, catering, audiovisual requirements, and on-site logistics.
    • Research and recommend venue options and conduct site visits as required.
    • Prepare event materials including agendas, signage, name badges, promotional items, and branded assets.
    • Attend Calgary-based events and provide day-of-event support, including setup, problem-solving, and teardown.
    • Maintain detailed event trackers, schedules, and checklists to ensure smooth and consistent event delivery.
    • Manage the administration, allocation, and distribution of tickets for firm-hosted premium sporting and entertainment experiences, ensuring accurate tracking, stakeholder coordination, and timely delivery.

 

Stakeholder, Vendor & Contract Management

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, venues, and third-party suppliers to ensure seamless execution of events and initiatives.
    • Review contracts and identify concerns, risks, or irregularities for escalation.
    • Liaise with cross-functional teams including Brand, Web, Events, Marketing Communications, CRM, Digital, and other business services groups.

 

Marketing, Profile & Client Development Support

    • Support the execution of local and national client development and business development plans and strategies.
    • Draft, edit, coordinate, and maintain a wide range of client-facing and internal marketing content, including business development collateral, lawyer biographies, award and directory submissions, web and social content, event and webinar materials, and print and digital assets.
    • Ensure accuracy, consistency, strategic alignment, and timely delivery of marketing materials across teams.
    • Support the implementation of key initiatives by coordinating deliverables and timelines with internal stakeholders.
    • Other duties as assigned.

 

Reporting, Administration & Continuous Improvement

    • Maintain organized records including invoices, receipts, expenses, budgets, and supporting documentation.
    • Track event metrics, develop surveys, gather feedback, and support post-event debriefs to assess effectiveness and ROI.
    • Manage changing priorities and competing deadlines with professionalism, sound judgment, and attention to detail.

 

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, events, or business development; experience in a professional services environment is preferred.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and results-driven team player able to collaborate with local and national, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-profile initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure with tight deadlines and competing deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with external contacts and individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly professional, client-focused approach with strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of decisions on public image, internal operations, and corporate objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, event management platforms, CRM systems, Adobe Acrobat, and Canva; experience with InterAction or similar CRM tools is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to privacy, ethics, and professional integrity.

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Flexibility to support events and initiatives outside standard business hours when required.

This role is a replacement position.

The target salary range for this position is $54,000 – $71,000, commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. Dentons is committed to equitable and competitive compensation.
