POSITION SUMMARY
Dentons is seeking an experienced Intermediate Corporate Paraprofessional to join its Corporate Services Department in our Calgary office.
The role requires a polished, confident and reliable individual who has the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities. The successful candidate will be organized, discreet, able to multitask and possess a high level of client-care with a confidential work approach. There is an emphasis for this position on teaming and collaboration, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to be an “early adopter” of new technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs a variety of complex and routine legal duties under the supervision of the lawyers;
- Prepares corporate documentation relating to incorporations, organizations, amendments, continuances, amalgamations, extra-provincial registrations, dissolutions and other reorganizations, including tax reorganizations, share and asset purchases;
- Manages and maintains an updated corporate database and corporate records;
- Works with lawyers in all Dentons Canada offices to attend to ABCA and CBCA transactions, filing and equivalent registrations;
- Attends to the review and analysis of corporate minute book records and recommends the appropriate course of action to update records and rectify deficiencies, including drafting the required documentation;
- Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards;
- Attends to general corporate work, including government filings, enquiries from within and outside the firm;
- Mentors junior corporate paraprofessionals;
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 5+ years’ relevant paraprofessional experience in a corporate services department of a law firm or equivalent environment;
- CORES Level 3 accreditation with the Alberta Corporate Registry System;
- Thorough knowledge of complex legal procedures, statutes and regulations applicable to commercial, and corporate law;
- Able to manage files from start to finish;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with clients directly in a professional manner;
- Able to multi-task and to meet deadlines under pressure;
- Demonstrated initiative and able to work with minimal supervision;
- Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Flexible and collaborative team player;
- Proficiency with Athennian and DocuSign is an asset.
