POSITION SUMMARY
Dentons Canada is hiring a Specialist, Profile & Client Development. You will be joining a vibrant, creative group of professionals who contribute to the business development efforts of the national firm.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Profile & Client Development, the Specialist, Profile & Client Development works directly with a variety of practice and sector groups to expand current and new client relationships, drive revenue through the development of short and long-term business development plans and strategies, and inspire lawyers to focus on profile and client development initiatives.  

 

This position is located in Calgary.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with assigned Practice/Industry groups to develop annual business plans and execute business plan initiatives throughout the year.
  • Develop strategies and identify opportunities to promote the practice, increasing its visibility and positioning in the market.
  • Draft targeted, strategic submissions for practice-related rankings, surveys and awards, including Chambers, Legal 500 and other industry-specific/geographic awards programs, overseeing reviews and approvals and ensuring streamlined and efficient delivery.
  • Prepare client reports which identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships, expand the client base, and increase external and internal visibility in the marketplace and business legal community to help drive cross-selling conversations.
  • Work in partnership with the Events team to ensure the successful preparation and delivery of first class events.
  • In collaboration with the Proposals team, coordinate and assist in the development of customized responses to pitches, RFPs and other marketing collateral for new business opportunities and client meetings; assist in the assembly of and related tracking of pitches and presentations.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to understand the business objectives and key clients of assigned practice and sector groups.
  • Participate in practice and sector group meetings, including preparing agendas, and contributing to selected special initiatives and projects. 
  • Coordinate deal collection efforts and contribute to the successful maintenance of the deal tracking system.
  • Support the enhancement of client lists, working cross-functionally with the CRM team.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of annual business development budgets.
  • Work cross-functionally with related marketing teams to ensure update-to-date collateral as well as expand and drive social media engagement, strengthening assigned groups external presence.
  • Other duties as may be required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Event Management or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in client development, sales, marketing, event planning, or a similar role. Strong preference for candidates with legal or other professional services-related firm experience.
  • Ability to handle an extensive workload with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Professional maturity including strong interpersonal skills, tact and discretion.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to strategize with lawyers, team members and other parties to create targeted content to meet business objectives for proposals, projects and other collateral.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities with challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to complete designated tasks in a systematic and logical way, with great attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office (MS Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Forms).
  • Familiarity with production software an asset (Sitecore, Google Analytics)
  • Experience using InterAction or other CRM tools a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required, to meet client demands and deadlines.
