Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Pricing Analyst to join our Strategic Pricing team. This is an individual contributor position reporting to the Senior Pricing Manager. The Pricing Analyst supports the team through day-to-day data gathering, financial modeling, and report preparation in support of pricing requests across all practice areas, from client RFPs and alternative fee arrangements to annual rate reviews and post-matter analytics. Working closely with senior team members, attorneys, and business services colleagues, this role contributes to the Firm’s revenue strategy and client value delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, intellectual curiosity, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for the business of law. This is a hybrid position with a two-day in-office requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in compiling data and building financial models that feed into fee proposals, supporting the development of profitable pricing solutions in response to client RFPs, pitches, and informal pricing requests.
  • Support the evaluation of alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) – including fixed fees, phased caps, blended rates, and success fees among others – by gathering historical data, running financial analyses, and preparing profitability and realization summaries for review by senior team members.
  • Perform financial analysis and modeling to support pricing positions, cost estimates, fee proposals, and matter budgets across practice areas, including researching matter scope, staffing assumptions, and historical data under the guidance of senior analysts and pricing leadership.
  • Support attorneys and senior pricing team members in communicating the potential risks and rewards of non-standard fee arrangements, helping to reinforce pricing discipline through clear data presentation and analysis.
  • Provide front-line support for incoming US Fee Request inquiries and other rate/pricing requests, helping manage workflow priorities and delivering responsive, high-quality customer service in a high-volume environment.
  • Support the annual rate-setting process and client-specific rate analyses by gathering industry benchmarking data, reviewing key client agreements, and coordinating updates to financial systems under the direction of pricing leadership.
  • Review client Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs), identifying pricing requirements and flagging risks or constraints for escalation to team leadership.
  • Conduct post-matter financial analysis to leverage historical data and related insights, supporting future pricing decisions and improved financial performance.
  • Research and compile competitive intelligence reports, including benchmarking data on legal pricing and rates across markets and practice areas, and summarize findings for senior team review.
  • Follow established processes and templates; assist in maintaining tools, reference materials, and supporting databases and analyses (including AFA tracking, competitor intelligence, and client performance data) to enhance pricing efficiency and consistency, and may suggest minor improvements.
  • Leverage technology, including business intelligence tools such as Power BI, data analytics platforms, and AI-enabled solutions (such as Harvey or Copilot), to support pricing models, reporting, and decision-making processes.
  • Coordinate with Business Development, Practice Management, Finance, and other departments to support operational best practices and ensure coordinated client service.
  • Other duties as may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field required
  • 1–3 years of professional experience; familiarity with legal pricing, billing, financial analysis, or a related function within a law firm or professional services organization is a plus
  • Interest in learning law firm rate structures, discount arrangements, and alternative fee arrangements, with a desire to develop commercial and business acumen in a legal pricing context
  • Strong financial modeling and spreadsheet skills, including the ability to build and maintain models and present findings clearly and concisely
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, advanced formulas), Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with SQL, Power BI, or other business intelligence tools is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with legal accounting and financial systems (e.g., Elite 3E, Aderant, or similar) is a plus; experience with matter planning, e-billing platforms, or AI-enabled pricing tools is desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, attorneys, and business professionals
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Detail-oriented with sound judgment, strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to build relationships across the firm, foster a collaborative working environment, and partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Interest in or familiarity with leveraging emerging technologies, including AI and data analytics tools, to enhance pricing processes and decision-making
