Senior Conflicts Specialist

Dentons US LLP is recruiting for a Senior Conflicts Specialist. This position will provide support to all levels of personnel throughout the Firm and US Region and will be responsible for review and analysis of conflicts and other issues related to firm acceptance of new clients and new matters. The position is open to any Dentons office location and is a remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Review and provide thorough and timely analysis of all firm new business to identify legal and business conflicts of interest.
- Utilize available internal and external databases to review and analyze conflicts of interest reports with respect to clients, matters and prospective business.
- Facilitate resolution of potential conflicts issues for lawyer’s firm wide.
- Advise as to necessary waivers. Assist in drafting waivers and engagement letters or other documentation for Partner review and/or submission to clients.
- Proactively communicate with department leadership on complex conflicts questions and other compliance issues.
- Maintain thorough, accurate and current records of all conflicts resolutions to ensure integrity of the database and assist in identification and clearing of future conflicts of interest.
- Investigate and resolve erroneous, outdated or otherwise incomplete data on conflicts reports to maintain integrity of information in firm conflicts databases and other records.
- Support the conflicts review process for lateral partner and associate hires, including comprehensive risk analysis, and coordination with recruiting and firm leadership, as necessary.
- Independently analyze highly complex conflicts scenarios, including multi-jurisdictional and cross-border matters, and provide well-reasoned recommendations.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to Conflicts Analysts and Conflicts Specialists, including assisting with training, workflow guidance, and quality review of work product.
- Act as an escalation point for Conflicts Analysts and Specialists on complex or sensitive conflicts matters requiring advanced judgment.
- Contribute to the refinement and improvement of conflicts procedures, policies, and best practices to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- These duties may be ongoing or ad hoc in nature.
- Other duties may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate should have a JD and/or a minimum of 10+ years of conflicts experience in a law firm setting; candidates without a JD must demonstrate equivalent senior-level experience in conflicts analysis and risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or government law.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Ability to collaborate productively with firm personnel at all levels.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
- Methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy, attention to details, consistency, and quality.
- Able to effectively negotiate with and influence colleagues and others to achieve a successful outcome.
- Strong legal research skills. In addition, stay current with recent research and thinking on ethics and conflicts best practices and rules across jurisdictions in which the firm has offices. Maintain a sophisticated, relevant base of knowledge in these areas.
- Able to work under pressure with tight project deadlines and can adapt to differing demands, prioritizing tasks where appropriate and ensuring complete 'follow through' on outstanding issues.
- Knowledge of Intapp conflict checking, ethical wall and business intake software a plus.
Salary
Pursuant with states' laws, the salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000, based on experience and local market.
