Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Senior Financial Systems Analyst to be resident in our Chicago office. The Senior Financial Systems Analyst is a pivotal position for an experienced and motivated individual who will lead initiatives as they relate to financial business processes of the Firm. This position performs a broad range of technical work including developing, coordinating and supporting the finance department's technical initiatives, in alignment with the regional and/or global goals and objectives. Collaborating internally with all levels of the legal and business support teams and externally with vendors, the Senior Financial Systems Analyst will be responsible for understanding core business processes and resulting work product and translating them into action. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Financial Systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities, evaluate and recommend key configurations, customizations and the technologies required to support and improve the business process and streamline operations.
  • Gather requirements and translate them into solutions that address data management, reporting, and workflow requirements; ensuring that the resulting solution meets the business need.
  • Provide on-going support and assistance with financial management applications.
  • Produce and maintain procedural and technical documentation.
  • Apply appropriate project management techniques including:
    • Planning and timeline management
    • Provide technical and process leadership to the project teams and overseeing business resource engagement with other members of the business support organization
    • Ensure adequate project communication and integration occurs across departments, systems, and platforms and users
    • Ensure that the project team’s direction is in line with the enterprise vision
    • Ensure adherence to standards and guidelines based on industry best practices of information management within an enterprise environment encompassing data integrity and security protocols
    • Ensure changes to the live application or infrastructure environments are suitably tested with roll-back capability and change controls exercised accordingly

 

 Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, computer science or information systems
  • Experience in a law firm/professional services environment preferred 
  • Experience with financial applications such as: Elite 3E (required), and supporting cloud applications such as Chrome River, InTapp Time, InTapp Open,  ARCS, Elite 3E Template, Elite Advance Financial Reporting, Nth Degree
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL query development, report writing tools (including Power BI and SSRS) and integration tools (such as SSIS or Azure Data factory or InTapp’s Integration Builder)
  • Experience with complex system integration projects
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to assess written information (facts and sometimes conflicting assertions and arguments), draw inferences, form hypotheses, develop logical arguments, and to express such information in writing so that others will understand
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel including developing and maintaining effective working relationships with partners, managers, attorneys and staff to coordinate and follow-up on project and support issues
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as and when required to respond to critical situations
