Role


Our Doha office non-contentious construction team acts for a wide array of industry participants across the Middle East, including KSA, Qatar, Abu-Dhabi, Dubai, and Oman. They regularly act for governmental departments, international developers, SPV project companies, owners, lenders, contractors, and equipment suppliers on the largest real estate and construction projects being procured in the Middle East.


A unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and ambitious candidate to join our growing non-contentious construction team in our Doha office. The successful candidate will provide non-contentious real estate and construction support in respect of a variety of projects in the real estate development, energy, transportation, and infrastructure sectors in the Middle East.

Given the range of sectors and jurisdictions in which the team works, a successful candidate would gain experience acting on major projects for high-profile clients across the whole of the Middle East. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to work both independently running matters and fronting client relationships whilst also working as part of a large cross-office team and having the benefit of the support network that this provides.

Responsibilities
 

The role provides an excellent opportunity to take on an autonomous role within a cohesive and supporting team and will allow you to apply your existing expertise to a range of specialisms. Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Supporting and leading on a large variety of transactions;
  • Building and maintaining existing client relationships;
  • Contributing to market knowledge; 
  • Contributing to business development.

 

Experience, Skills & Knowledge
 

  • This role would be ideal for candidates with 5 years of PQE.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Scottish or English qualified preferable.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating real estate and construction contractual documentation is essential.
  • Experience in the Middle East infrastructure,  real estate, and construction markets is preferable but not essential.
  • Experience of FIDIC based Construction Contracts (including other main standard forms), consultant appointments, and collateral warranties preferable.
  • Wider experience of EPC contracts, operational and maintenance agreements, and project agreements would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong team player.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a team of junior lawyers and paralegals.
  • Ambitious and self-motivated.
