POSITION OVERVIEW
The Tax/Corporate Paralegal assists the Firm’s tax lawyers and their clients with routine to complex corporate work including drafting of documents in a corporate reorganization. This role has moderate to high level of communication with the firm’s lawyers and external accountants and is often times working under a higher degree of pressure and tight deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Name changes and Amendments for Federal and Alberta corporations;
- Amalgamations of Alberta and Federal Corporations;
- Incorporations of Alberta, Federal and Not-For-Profit Corporations;
- Continuance in/out of Alberta or Canada;
- Dissolution and Revivals;
- Preparation of tax related agreements and documents;
Other responsibilities include, but not be limited to:
- Complete minute book reviews;
- Maintain accurate records in corporate database;
- Create and maintain corporate precedents;
- Complete name searches and reservations;
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Superb accuracy, attention to detail and time management skills;

- Able to work independently and in a team environment;
- Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Self-starter who is able to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure both independently and in a team setting.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
- Legal Assistant diploma from an accredited college plus a minimum of seven (7) years of previous paralegal experience in related practice areas (Tax/Corporate);
- CORES Level III accreditation;
- Advanced computer skills; proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Experience with digital filing and document management;
- Demonstrated commitment to privacy and ethical conduct.
This role is a new position.
The target salary range for this position is $75,000– $90,000, commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. Dentons is committed to equitable and competitive compensation. This target range falls within our internal salary ranges, which are based on comparable roles in the external market.
