The Role


Based in either our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices, we are seeking a talented and experienced Pricing and Commercial Analyst professional to join our or UK team. As the Pricing and Commercial Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing pricing strategies, conducting commercial assessments, and providing valuable insights to ensure profitability and business growth. You will work closely with partners, finance teams, and practice groups to develop pricing models, evaluate client engagements, and contribute to the firm's financial growth.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Pricing Strategy Development: Collaborate with partners, practice groups, and business development teams to develop and refine pricing strategies that align with the firm's goals and market dynamics, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
  • Commercial Assessments: Conduct comprehensive commercial assessments of client engagements, evaluating pricing structures, profitability, and potential risks to provide strategic recommendations and support decision-making.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyse financial data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the financial health and profitability of the firm's practice areas, clients, and specific matters.
  • Pricing Models: Design and implement pricing models and tools to support accurate pricing decisions, taking into consideration various factors such as time, resources, complexity, and market benchmarks.
  • Pricing Proposals: Assist in developing customized pricing proposals for new and existing clients, incorporating appropriate fee structures, alternative pricing arrangements, and value-based pricing strategies.
  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor and evaluate the legal market, competitors, and industry trends to identify pricing opportunities, benchmark against industry standards, and propose adjustments to maintain competitiveness.
  • Client Relationship Management: Collaborate with partners and business development teams to develop pricing strategies that align with client expectations, negotiate pricing agreements, and enhance client satisfaction and retention.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare regular reports and presentations on pricing performance, profitability analysis, and commercial insights for partners, senior management, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Pricing Governance: Ensure compliance with pricing policies and procedures, providing guidance and training to stakeholders as necessary.
  • Technology and Tools: Stay updated on pricing software, financial modeling tools, and legal industry-specific technologies, and recommend and implement relevant tools to streamline pricing processes and enhance data analysis capabilities.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience in pricing, financial analysis, or commercial analysis roles within the legal industry or professional services sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pricing strategies, pricing models, and profitability analysis within the services industry.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities from data.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling tools. Knowledge of data visualization tools is advantageous.
  • High communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build effective relationships.
  • Comprehensive project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive mindset, with a focus on promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
