The Role


Dentons is at an exciting time in its strategy and a major focus on marketing and business development activity is seen as crucial to its success. The Head of Clients will lead the firm’s client strategy, focusing on strengthening relationships, driving retention and growth and ensuring the delivery of exceptional client service. Working closely with the Director of Clients & Markets as part of the department's senior leadership team, this role is responsible for developing and implementing client programmes and initiatives that align with the firm’s strategic objectives, working closely with client relationship partners, divisional leaders and other key stakeholders. The Head of Clients will directly manage the Client Development Managers ensuring a seamless and high-quality client experience (CX) from initial engagement through ongoing relationship management.

 

Responsibilities

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

 

  • Develop and implement client relationship management strategies to support the firm’s business objectives.

  • Work closely with client relationship partners, divisional leaders, practice group leaders, and regional heads to identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and deliver value.

  • Focus our efforts on finding opportunities to get in touch and meeting generation.

  • Work with the Head of Operations to launch a new-look client listening programme to the business so it is inculcated in our culture.

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Client Development Managers providing, coaching, and professional development.

  • Develop and run a rolling training programme for Client Relationship Partners of our largest relationships.

  • Oversee the firm’s key client and strategic account programmes, ensuring best practice and continuous improvement.

  • Monitor client feedback and market trends to inform client strategy and service delivery.

  • Collaborate with business development, marketing, and engagement teams to deliver integrated client initiatives and campaigns.

  • Support the preparation and delivery of client-facing materials, proposals, and presentations as necessary.

  • Manage relationships with external consultants and suppliers as required.
     

Key Skills and Experience:

 

  • Significant experience in a senior client relationship or business development role within a professional services environment, preferably legal.
  • Experience in managing key client or strategic account programmes.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute client strategies and programmes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commercially focused, with strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Marketing, Law, or a related field.
