The Role
Dentons is at an exciting time in its strategy and a major focus on marketing and business development activity is seen as crucial to its success. This new role of Head of Marketing, Brand Development and Engagement has been created to support this, and the successful candidate will lead the firm’s marketing strategy, brand positioning, and client engagement initiatives. Working closely with the Director of Clients and Markets and as part of the department’s senior leadership team, this role is responsible for enhancing the firm’s reputation in the communities of client decision-makers that are our focus enhancing our market reputation for creativity and innovation in client engagement.
Responsibilities
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and execute the firm’s marketing programme in alignment with our strategic objectives and growth targets.
- Lead brand development initiatives to strengthen the firm’s market position and reputation.
- Oversee client engagement programmes, including events, thought leadership, and digital campaigns.
- Manage and grow the marketing and engagement team, providing leadership, coaching and development.
- Monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activity, and client feedback to inform decisions.
- Ensure brand consistency and compliance across all external and internal communications.
- Oversee the production of relevant collateral.
- Manage relationships with external agencies and suppliers as required.
- Set and manage relevant marketing budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and ROI measurement.
- Report on marketing performance and engagement metrics to the Clients and Markets Director and other stakeholders.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Significant experience in a senior marketing role within a professional services environment, preferably legal or a consultancy/agency working in this space.
- Proven track record in brand development, marketing strategy, and client engagement.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercially astute with a data-driven approach to marketing and engagement.
- Experience managing budgets and external suppliers.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Business, or a related field; CIM or similar professional accreditation desirable.

- Collaborative and able to work effectively across all levels of the firm.
