Role
The position of International Tax Manager is within the Partnership Tax Team in the Finance Department of Dentons UK and Middle East LLP. The International Tax Manager will work alongside the UK Tax Manager reporting to the Head of UKIME Group Tax with the potential for the team to expand to include Tax associates/assistants and an Indirect Tax lead.
The International Tax Manager will take responsibility for all non-UK related tax compliance matters including non-UK partnership tax computations and overseeing corporate/income tax returns for entities in the Middle East, Egypt, and Ireland. This role will work closely with the UK Tax Manager and collaborate on mobility/remote working queries and lead on the adherence and reporting under transfer pricing legislation.
Responsibilities
Compliance
• Oversee and manage the efficient completion of all Firm’s tax compliance obligations for the non-UK based entities (within Dentons UKIME Group) including income and corporation tax computations and returns, tax balances in statutory accounts, tax provisioning, payroll, double tax relief claims and tax payments.
• Liaising with relevant tax authorities where appropriate.
• Lead on the adherence and reporting under transfer pricing legislation and collaborate with the UK Tax Manager for UK transfer pricing purposes.
Advisory
• Responsibility for the tax strategy of Dentons UKIME international operations and interaction with the Firms overall position.
• Collaborating with the UK Tax Manager and external advisors on other significant taxation policies, documentation and implementation.
• Assessment of the impact of new legislation on the Firm and putting in place measures to effectively manage the tax risks and impact.
• Work with the UK Tax Manager on global mobility and remote working queries.
• Liaising with colleagues from a non-tax background, both within the finance team and the wider business, to ensure tax is understood and factored into decision making across the business.
• Opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and external advisors on tax planning and analysis queries e.g., partner hoc tax queries, capital/cash repatriation, cross-border transactions, new offices/operations/legal structures, and various ad hoc projects for the firm.
• Assisting Fee earners and the Finance team with efficient structuring of client billing and revenue remittance arrangements (e.g. withholding tax matters) to maximise the profitability of transactions.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
• Good Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy
• Can clearly explain problems and issues to others and contribute to their resolution
• Able to prioritise and multi-task particularly when working under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Able to interact positively and confidently at all levels, including with partners and the management team, and a good team player
• Flexible and proactive approach to work
• Can demonstrate confidence and resilience to overcome obstacles to deliver what is required
• Experience of working in a law firm or a professional services environment would be an advantage
• Ideally CTA, ACA, CA or equivalent.
