The Department

Our Legal Delivery Centre (LDC) is a flexible and scalable paralegal resource for use across all of our UK, Ireland and Middle East offices and across the full spectrum of legal services. Meeting the ever increasing demands for disaggregated legal services, the LDC offers an exciting opportunity for development and the chance to undertake chargeable work that is varied, challenging and engaging. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team that is integral to the firm's strategy, whilst benefiting from being able to work remotely and flexibly.

Winner of the 2019 and 2020 National Paralegal Awards best law firm for paralegal development and finalist in 2021, Dentons offers fabulous opportunities for paralegals.

Dentons is embracing the SQE route to qualification. Not only can your work experience count towards QWE but for successful internal applicants we are also offering a unique opportunity for development, including financial sponsorship, through our QualiFLY programme. QualiFLY is an enhanced 18 month programme designed to provide the business with a pipeline of exceptional talent whilst ensuring that the experience and training gained by the paralegal is comparable to the more traditional training contract route.

We are presently looking for bright, ambitious and enthusiastic paralegals from across the UK to join our virtual, innovative LDC.

Role

We are looking for a motivated, commercially minded Commercial Paralegal to join our Legal Delivery Centre.

The role involves supporting a broad range of commercial contracts work for sophisticated clients, including drafting and reviewing contracts, supporting negotiations, conducting legal research, and managing matters through to completion in collaboration with lawyers and client teams.

Technology and innovation are integral to the role. You will use legal technology and AI tools to support delivery, improve consistency and reduce manual processes. We are therefore looking for someone curious about new ways of working, comfortable learning new technology, and interested in how AI can be used responsibly to enhance legal service delivery.

This role is well suited to someone looking to build strong commercial legal experience within an innovative delivery environment, working alongside experienced lawyers with structured training and development.

We are open to both potential and experience. The key is a willingness to learn, pride in producing high-quality work, and readiness to take on increasing responsibility. Prior exposure to commercial contracts or professional services environments is helpful but not essential where strong transferable skills and the right mindset are demonstrated.

This is a fully virtual role with no routine office requirement, although there may be occasional opportunities to attend UK offices and work with wider teams.

Responsibilities

You will work as part of a team to deliver high-quality service to clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • drafting, reviewing and amending commercial contracts and related documents;
  • supporting contract negotiations and progressing matters to completion;
  • conducting legal and commercial research;
  • managing allocated tasks and matters with appropriate supervision;
  • communicating clearly with lawyers, clients and stakeholders;
  • triaging and prioritising work to meet deadlines;
  • working within precedents, playbooks and defined processes;
  • maintaining accurate matter records and supporting reporting requirements;
  • using AI, legal technology and automation tools to support efficient delivery;
  • engaging positively with new tools, systems and ways of working;
  • identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency in recurring work;
  • contributing to a collaborative team environment and supporting colleagues as priorities shift.

We aim to provide a supportive environment that encourages both collaboration and appropriate independence.

We value individuals who take ownership, respond well to feedback, and are committed to adapting as technology and delivery models evolve.

Required experience, skills and attributes

  • Strong academic record, degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Interest in commercial law and developing experience in commercial contracts.
  • Some exposure to commercial contracts or stakeholder engagement in a professional services environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ownership of work.
  • Curious, proactive learner with interest in clients and their businesses.
  • Comfortable asking questions and acting on feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Flexible and adaptable in response to changing priorities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new systems.
  • Open to innovation and interested in the use of AI in legal delivery.
  • Able to use AI tools responsibly, with awareness of accuracy, confidentiality and the need for human judgement.

We are particularly interested in candidates with strong potential, curiosity and a willingness to develop. Extensive experience is not required; success in the role depends on learning quickly, applying feedback and consistently delivering high-quality work.
