Summary

Dentons’ Montréal office is currently seeking a paralegal to join our Real Estate group. This is a remarkable opportunity to become an integral part of our team, where a culture of collegiality and collaboration is at the heart of how we operate at Dentons. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct title searches and prepare draft title opinions and summary reports;
  • Perform searches in various registries, including the Land Registry, the Register of Personal and Movable Real Rights, the Mining Registry (GESTIM), the Registre du domaine de l’État, the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, Corporations Canada, and the Commission de la protection du territoire agricole;
  • Prepare draft deeds, including notices of lease, release, discharge and other related deeds;
  • Analyze certificates of location and review attached plans;
  • Review title opinions prepared by other firms;
  • Communicate with title insurers and obtain insurance commitments;
  • Conduct off-title searches;
  • Prepare registration slips, manage deeds registration and conduct follow-up, including verifications following the registration in the Land Registry. 

 

Requirements

  • College diploma in paralegal technology or diploma in notarial law;
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience as a paralegal in real estate law or as a title search specialist; 
  • Ability to ensure accuracy and meet deadlines;
  • Exhibit composure and effectiveness when working under pressure;
  • Team player;
  • Excellent level of bilingualism (English/French).
