Role


We are seeking an experienced junior/mid-level Associate to join our dynamic transactional Middle East Banking and Finance team and to be based in our award-winning and Tier 1-ranked Muscat team. This role presents an exciting and challenging opportunity for a driven banking and finance lawyer who aspires to advance their career within a global firm with an opportunity to live and work in the Sultanate of Oman. In this position, you will have the opportunity to engage in a wide spectrum of transactions, including general banking, capital markets, project finance, Islamic finance, leveraged finance, real estate finance, and global syndicated lending.


You will collaborate directly with leading Banks and Financial Institutions worldwide together with a variety of corporate borrower and issuer clients as well as regulators and market participants in supporting the wider financing landscape. You will work closely with experts across Dentons' international offices. Our firm provides comprehensive legal training, supported by a team of Professional Support Lawyers (PSLs), and offers a structured personal and career development programme.

 

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

 

  • Proven experience in LMA-based transactions. An understanding of the regional finance landscape will be preferred, as will an understanding of Islamic finance.
  • A good understanding of Oman and other regional laws and practice is preferred, but not essential. English or Scots-qualified lawyers are preferred given the volume of English law work undertaken by the team.
  • Ability to manage transactions effectively and assist in the supervision of trainees.
  • Familiarity with regional laws and market practices.
  • Strong team player with a sense of enthusiasm and a drive to enhance their local and regional market presence and a commitment to technical excellence and client care
  • We are looking for candidates with a commitment to the region, so will be ideal for candidates already based in the region or already familiar with the region.
  • Strong Arabic language skills are a bonus.
