Legal Secretary

Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Legal Secretary (IP&T) for our New York office to provide support to our IP Litigation practice. This position will require an individual skilled in handling clients within public and private corporations, multinational Fortune 100 businesses, and start-up enterprises and someone well-versed in complex patent, copyright, and trademark litigation. This position will provide administrative support to as many as 5 or 6 lawyers in a highly collaborative working environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, edit, and proofread legal briefs, memoranda, correspondence, and documents, including but not limited to license agreements, joint venture agreements, and non-disclosure agreements, as well as other business contracts
- Prepare complex and confidential documents and presentations
- Assist with electronic and paper court filings. Prepare and transmit Assignments, Declarations, and Power of Attorney documents
- Billing - reviewing pro formas, prepare cover letters on client invoices, open matters and follow up with vendors on invoice matters
- Report USPTO and foreign trademark office communications to clients
- Conduct status check on active foreign trademarks, including communications with foreign associates
- Maintain attorney calendar and coordinate attendance at conference calls and meetings
- Handle confidential information as necessary
- Maintain lawyers’ contacts lists in Outlook and InterAction
- Assist with attorney’s time entry, expense reports and budget spreadsheets
- Other duties may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position
Experience & Qualifications
- 5 years of Legal Secretarial experience in a mid- to large-size law firm supporting Litigation Attorneys
- Patent, copyright, and trademark litigation experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus
- Great written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate directly with clients providing a high level of client service
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, work independently and multi-task Ability to work in a high-volume environment
- Excellent computer skills and Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; ability to learn and quickly become proficient in new computer software programs
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work overtime as needed
Salary Range
New York Only: $95,000 - $105,000
