Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Senior Business Development Manager to manage the business development and marketing initiatives for its US Venture Technology Group and lead a team of business development professionals supporting key transactional practices such as Corporate, Capital Markets, Real Estate, and Banking and Finance. This position is based in New York and will have direct engagement with global head, practice and sector leaders to accelerate client engagement, generate new work, expand existing client relationships and enhance brand recognition of the firm’s US transactional practices.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with partners and professionals in the US, and liaise with others globally, to identify, pursue, and engage with companies and investors looking to grow, protect, operate, or finance their interests
  • Participate in the development of new strategic initiatives to get ahead of market trends.
  • Develop annual strategic business development and marketing plans in collaboration with practice leadership and other transactional BDs
  • Develop and manage corresponding budgets in collaboration with relevant leadership
  • Create, prepare and coordinate distinctive proposals/pitches to differentiate Dentons and enable sales opportunities
  • Conduct and/or facilitate market, industry and competitive intelligence research analysis for business development opportunities
  • Plan and manage events to achieve desired outcomes and promote brand preference
  • Create marketing materials, oversee the development and promotion of thought leadership, and execute branded campaigns to promote thought leadership via innovative social media strategies
  • Assist with the onboarding and integration of new transactional partners
  • Monitor, track and manage marketing and business development budgets
  • Proactively report to league table companies, legal directories, and other priority publications to optimize market position; draft submissions for targeted rankings and industry awards
  • Manage client and prospect mailing lists for coordinated outreach targeting key industries and audiences
  • Gather, organize and manage experience and matters for the practice and related areas of service
  • Track and report on projects, outcomes, and ongoing activities based on the plans and budgets
  • Lead or assist other marketing and business development projects as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned to fully meet the requirements for this position

 Experience & Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ of marketing and business development experience in a professional services industry, with preference given to law firm experience. Sector experience a plus.
  • Strong professional presence, ability to take a leadership role in a fast paced environment working with rapidly growing groups, including managing expectations, prioritizing projects and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Strong understanding of emerging growth/venture business and transactional services in the US and globally
  • Experience dealing with global marketing issues and sensitivities.
  • Management experience of a team of business development professionals required.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is able to handle a variety of projects that require tight deadlines.
  • Proficient at issue-spotting, and possess a strong intellectual curiosity about the business of law.
  • Highly organized and possess strong creative abilities and excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Ability to work well at all levels within the organization, as well as with firm clients and industry partners
  • Knowledge management skills a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite; experience with enterprise databases, market data tools and technology resources a plus

 

Salary Range 

New York Only: 175,000-210,000
