The Dentons Ottawa Regulatory Group is seeking a Legal Assistant with 2+ years’ of experience. The position will require a confident, reliable and business-minded team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities. 


The successful candidate will be organized, discreet, detail-oriented, and have a client-first approach to work. The person in this role will demonstrate this commitment through taking an active interest in all aspects of our client requirements. We are committed to providing exceptional service levels to the lawyers and our clients.

 

Responsibilities
•    Drafting, editing and proofreading routine correspondence, letters and other related documents;
•    Maintaining and organizing client contacts, files and various calendars;
•    Prioritizing workflow to ensure completion of accurate work within established timelines;
•    Managing administrative tasks, including time entry, billings, scheduling of appointments and coordinating meetings; 
•    Liaising with clients on a regular basis; and
•    Other duties to support the Regulatory Group as required.

 

Requirements
•    Post-secondary education in business or related discipline (Legal Administration and/or Law Clerk Diploma preferred);
•    2+ years’ experience in a similar role with working knowledge of Regulatory Law (preferred); 
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to maintain excellent customer service by handling questions and concerns with professionalism; 
•    Strong follow up and proofreading skills, attention to detail, and accuracy;
•    Ability to work under pressure and complete accurate work in a timely fashion while maintaining a positive, team driven attitude;
•    Seasoned problem solving skills and the ability to work with little instruction or supervision;  
•    Excellent technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; 
•    Knowledge of accounting/docketing systems and data management systems (preferred); and
•    Demonstrated commitment to privacy and ethical conduct.
