Position Summary

The Legal Technology Specialist is instrumental in advancing key legal technology initiatives and strategic objectives of the Knowledge and Legal Operations (“KLO”) team. Reporting to Director of Legal Operations and working closely with a diverse group of Firm members, this role will be responsible for supporting the management of the Firm’s legal technology portfolio (evaluations, licensing, vendors, contracts), communications (reporting and data analytics), and driving adoption and engagement (training and support).

This role is a dynamic one that involves coordination and prioritization of multiple initiatives. As such, the role requires adaptability as well as strong organization and communication skills to effectively manage the diverse priorities and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the evaluation, implementation and adoption of legal technology, data and artificial intelligence solutions, including user administration, training, documentation, vendor relations, contract management and internal and external invoicing.
  • Provide training and first-line support for legal technology, delivering onboarding, coordinating training sessions (including scheduling, agendas and logistics) and promoting user adoption.
  • Prepare and update training materials, documentation, internal reporting and other presentations and documents as required.
  • Act as a liaison between legal professionals and the Knowledge and Legal Operations team to gather requirements, identify use cases, assess user needs and triage technology requests across the Firm.
  • Support the firm’s knowledge management, document automation and generative AI drafting solutions.
  • Maintain databases tracking tool usage, budgeting and contract management. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of innovation trends, technology, and best practices, and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Legal Operations. 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in a legal technology, legal operations, knowledge management or similar role within a professional services or legal environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting; comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Digitally savvy and data driven, with an innovative mindset and willingness to learn new things.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferences / Assets

  • Post-secondary degree in business administration, information technology (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience managing a technology portfolio; legal tech experience is a plus.
  • Experience with SharePoint and project-management software.
  • Experience with document automation, including template design and coding/markup for automation.
  • Bilingual (French/English).
