The Opportunity


Reporting to our accomplished Financial Controller, our new Financial Accountant will be an integral part of the financial management and reporting of the firm, taking responsibility of the general ledger and related outputs, and delivering exceptional financial reporting services to the businesss. You will be working in a high performing, collegiate and energised finance team where there is a strong focus on learning and career development. 


Day to day, in this key, hands-on role, you will be tasked with providing seamless Partner Services in addition to providing reliable and meaningful information to users at different levels throughout the firm with a key focus on partner services and management reporting. Your duties will include (but are not limited to): 


  • Involved in the hands on accounting for the daily operations of the firm across Australia, PNG & NZ;
  • Involved in all of the month end and year end and lodgements;
  • Assist with daily monitoring of cash flow performance and assistance with planning;
  • Preparing of month end journals, reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliations and reporting;
  • Process monthly partner payments;
  • Analysis of variances to budgets and targets to provide practical feedback to users and management;
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets  and updating or rolling forecasts;
  • Preparation and compilation of partner year end earning statements and tax packs;
  • Maintain and assist with partner remuneration, benefits, documentation, records etc;
  • Preparation of shareholder dividends calculation and statements;
  • Assist in dealing with external auditors and tax accountants preparing annual statutory account.


To be successful in this role it is essential that you are CA / CPA qualified and have demonstrable experience gained in a similar role from a law firm or professional services environment. You will be the technical expert and possess well-developed skills to deliver in a fast-paced, service orientated environment whilst maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.
