Legal Practice Assistant 

 

We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to join our Dispute Resolution (commercial litigation) team on a full-time, permanent basis in our Sydney office.

 

Supporting senior Partners and the legal team within a busy and high-performing practice, you will play an integral role in the team, providing exceptional legal administrative support while identifying opportunities to enhance processes and deliver outstanding service to both internal and external clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Your primary focus will be supporting the effective management of matters from commencement through to completion, with a strong emphasis on financial administration, document, and litigation support.  Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Managing financial processes and the full life cycle of legal matters, including opening matters, conflict checking, high volume end of month billing, managing trust payments and disbursements, write offs, file closing, and archiving
  • Editing, and preparing correspondence and legal documents
  • Preparing and updating spreadsheets, reports, and presentations
  • Preparing and collating Briefs to Counsel, chronologies, and court materials
  • Coordinating meetings and travel arrangements, and liaising with chambers, government agencies, and other external stakeholders
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, third parties and internal stakeholders with professionalism, confidence, and warmth
  • Providing day to day administrative support, including answering calls, managing mail, printing, scanning, and document handling.

 

About You

 

You will thrive in this role if you bring:

 

  • A background in legal administration support or you are a law student with at least 2 years remaining, and demonstrated experience in legal support
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, including working with styles and templates
  • Experience using Elite or similar finance software for billing, reporting and matter management
  • Strong working knowledge of Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to produce professional quality documentation
  • A proactive, adaptable, and team oriented mindset
  • Fast, accurate and detail oriented work habits, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information.
