The Accounting Manager, Toronto, will be responsible for the financial accounting operations of the Toronto office of Dentons Canada.  

Supporting the Director of Finance and Operations,Toronto, the candidate has responsibility for managing the accounting and trust operations for the Toronto office and accurately recording the revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities accordingly on a timely basis.  The candidate will be the liaison between the Billing, Payable and Payroll teams in the Centres of Excellence to ensure that all accounting is accurate

•    Review and analysis of monthly financial results:  including comparison to historical data and budget targets
•    Prepare account reconciliations and analysis for all of the relevant balance sheet accounts
•    Coordinate the month end close including booking of journal entries
•    Support the Director of Finance and Operations-Toronto in the annual budgeting process for Toronto office 
•    Oversee daily operations of the Trust team in Toronto.
•    Review monthly HST returns 
•    Review and approve bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations
•    Provide information to payroll on monthly consultant and partner retiree payroll changes
•    Provide support for any calculations for annual consultant bonuses 
•    Assist in the collection of information for partner family trusts and trust tax returns
•    Ensure adherence to law society, federal and various provincial financial reporting regulations and guidelines, and conformity with the firm's fiscal policies and procedures. 
•    Develop policies and procedures with an emphasis on internal controls



•    Bachelor's degree (Bcomm) with major in accounting
•    CPA designation.
•    Ability to understand, implement and administer financial information and control systems.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.
