Position Summary

The Office of the General Counsel is seeking a Canada Conflicts Coordinator to join the Conflicts Team. Working primarily from and with the Office of the General Counsel in the Canada Region, the Conflicts Coordinator will play an integral role in the firm’s client-matter intake process and will support the Conflicts team. Key functions of this role include acting as a liaison between the Conflicts team and its internal customer base, including matter teams and the Dentons Open team (the platform used by the Firm in connection with the business acceptance system and process).  

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Proactively monitor and process emails sent to the Conflicts team inbox and other relevant distribution lists. Identify what action needs to be taken and by whom. Where appropriate, process action items yourself. 
  • Other conflicts related administrative duties as assigned
  • Become proficient working in the firm’s client-matter intake platform, Dentons Open, with a particular emphasis on best practices and firm standards for submitting conflict search requests.
  • Proactively perform, where appropriate, a quality assurance review of submitted requests and  connect with the relevant personnel to rectify issues.
  • Where appropriate, identify end users who may need help through training or guidance and work with the Dentons Open team in relation to rectifying this.
  • Develop an understanding of matter management, including matter opening.
  • Assist the Head of Conflicts and conflicts senior leadership team with compliance projects / other tasks, where appropriate.
  • Where relevant, contribute to the department's 'know how' system, particularly with regards to best practices and firm policies concerning relevant conflicts related items in the Dentons Open and the Business Acceptance process


What qualifications you need 

  • Experience in matter opening or management, and managing confidential information.
  • Previous Intapp experience is highly desirable. 
  • Proficient in French is an asset.
  • Positive; can-do, friendly and client focused attitude required. 
  • Methodical approach to work; takes an efficient and organized approach to dealing with administration.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent client/customer facing skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; can clearly explain and present problems and issues to others and contribute to their resolution.
  • Able to make decisions and remain calm while under pressure – particularly when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Able to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.
  • Able to exercise tact and diplomacy in an organizational setting.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to be proactive, while also being able to follow instructions and work closely with other Business Acceptance Teams.
  • Able to analyze and recognize the need for improvement to systems and suggest options for improvement to the Head of Conflicts and conflicts senior leadership team.
