POSITION SUMMARY

A strategic leadership role supporting practice group excellence and innovation.

 

The Canada Director of Legal Solutions is a senior leader responsible for supporting the Firm’s practice groups to execute their strategies efficiently and effectively. As a senior member of the cross-functional team that will drive the Firm’s transformation agenda, you will work closely with the Firm’s Practice Group Leaders, Knowledge and Legal Operations (KLO) team and Business Technology team. You will report directly to the Firm’s Chief Transformation Officer and will play a pivotal role in the Firm's transformation agenda, ensuring that modern ways of working and innovative practices are enabled and adopted by legal teams to drive excellence and enhance client value.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner closely with practice groups to understand their strategic objectives and operational challenges, identifying the capabilities needed to support the delivery of legal services and foster innovation.
  • Engage directly with clients to better understand their pain points and to collaborate with them and the Firm’s lawyers in the design of innovative client solutions that can improve efficiency and enhance legal work product
  • Assess, recommend, and implement solutions, whether related to people, process, or technology, that optimize legal workflows.
  • Serve as a change agent and strategic advisor, monitoring industry trends and developments in legal technology and innovation, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as the liaison between practice groups and the Firm’s technology and business teams, translating practice needs into actionable requirements and ensuring the adoption of platforms and tools that support seamless legal service delivery.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that the Firm is leveraging best-in-class tools and designing cutting-edge solutions.
  • Oversee the design, testing, rollout, and evaluation of new processes and tools, with a focus on measurable results and continuous improvement.
  • Lead complex projects and initiatives that advance the Firm’s transformation agenda, ensuring change management best practices are applied and stakeholders are engaged throughout.
  • Implement KPIs and regular reporting to measure the effectiveness and impact of legal solutions and operational enhancements including metrics related to revenue growth and firm profitability
  • Manage and develop a diverse national team of legal technology and practice innovation experts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in client service.

This role requires a strong understanding of legal industry operations, strategic thinking, and the ability to bridge practice needs with operational and technological capabilities. The Canada Director of Legal Solutions is pivotal in ensuring that the Firm’s legal services are streamlined, integrated, and can deliver value for clients, positioning the Firm at the forefront of innovation and excellence.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS

·     Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent experience required.

·     Significant experience with legal process improvement and legal technology solutions.

·     A minimum of ten years of experience in a legal services environment, with experience in practice management, legal operations, or knowledge management.

·     Proven experience driving continuous improvement and innovation in legal technology and operations.
