We have an immediate opening for a Billing Manager.  This role can be filled in any Dentons Canada office locations.  This position reports to the Director of Revenue located in Toronto.  The candidate will manage the Billing teams across the offices to ensure that firm policies and procedures are followed and will play a hands-on role to facilitate effective management of WIP.  The ideal candidate will be experienced with billing in a law firm or professional services firm.  The individual will have a complete understanding of the entire billing process.  The individual must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive matters with exceptional organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.


•    Monitor performance and proactively manage day-to-day workload of the National Billing team.
•    Provide leadership and direction to ensure invoicing in a timely manner, while in compliance with firm policy and procedures.
•    Responsible for coaching, mentoring and managing performance of a large team of direct reports.
•    Manage and execute complex client billing requirements.
•    Resolve adhoc billing issues that may arise.
•    Prepare adhoc reports and analysis related to clients or firm WIP.
•    Document and review billing processes and procedures.
•    Provide support to lawyers and other Dentons regions for cross-region billing.
•    Build internal client relationships and ensure high level of client service across the team.
•    Manage the billing coordinators portfolio of lawyers they support.
•    Ensure compliance with Time Entry guidelines and provide regular reporting to management.
•    Provide assistance/backup support to Revenue Manager as well as others in the Finance Department when required.
•    Other special projects as required.



•    3 + years of management experience supervising a team required
•    Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize various departmental responsibilities
•    Advanced analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail
•    Superior communication and customer service skills and the confidence and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of personnel of the Firm
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills to be able to summarize concepts in a meaningful way
•    Post secondary degree and related coursework in accounting/finance
•    Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
•    Experience with Thompson Reuters Elite or comparable legal billing software is desirable
