This is a highly skilled technical position within the Enterprise Services team of a multi-national office law firm.  Role responsibilities include applying the principles and practices of software quality assurance throughout our applications implementation and update life cycle.  The QA Analyst will focus on developing test scripts, test framework and executing functional, regression and end-to-end automated testing for front-end and back-end applications and perform application testing prior to production implementation while applying proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate the quality of IT-related updates.  The QA Analyst will, through careful hands on testing and automation, help to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.   

This role is responsible for executing the automated regression tests prior to release and on demand.  The candidate should be willing and able to perform manual testing on an as-needed basis.

 

What you’ll be doing
•    Accountable for the testing of applications for assigned projects.
•    Providing timely reporting of planning and testing efforts.
•    Communicating daily and weekly progress.
•    Collaborating with management and other IT team members to continuously provide input to improve the QA process.
•    Assisting with building an adequate testing environment/lab to perform hands-on testing and automation.
•    Building test automation from ground up and enhancing existing test automation to create efficiency in testing new applications and upgrades to existing applications.
•    Developing, executing, debugging and maintaining automated and manual test scripts for all application testing.
•    Assisting with developing, establishing and enforcing quality assurance measures and testing for new applications, upgrades and configuration changes to existing applications.
•    Creating and execute detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test cases and scripts.
•    Assisting with designing, implementing and executing an effective automation test strategy.
•    Performing daily, weekly, monthly or on-demand manual and automated functional, regression, integration, smoke and performance testing.
•    Identifying and documenting issues discovered during functional, regression, integration, smoke and performance testing.
•    Performing and/or coordinating user-acceptance testing for new or upgraded applications.
•    Ensuring that software quality measures comply with regulatory standards, industry standards, and accepted best practices.
•    Creating methodologies and processes for the collection and analysis of data for ensuring applications quality.
•    Understanding change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies.
•    Assisting with the selection and appropriate usage of automated test tools and data collection tools.
•    Maintaining awareness of automated test tool developments and making recommendations regarding same.
•    Performing other duties as assigned.


What qualifications you need

•    College diploma or university degree in software engineering, computer science or related field.
•    Minimum 5 years hands on experience in software testing with 2-3 years of experience in developing automation and development and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing.
•    Wide breadth of IT experience in various IT fields, not limited to QA.
•    Experience in QA Methodologies – Agile preferred.
•    Experience in analysing requirements and creating test scenarios.
•    Knowledge of defect management processes and defect lifecycles.
•    Experience in working with automated test management tools (SmartBear TestComplete preferred).
•    Working knowledge of defect tracking software.
•    Certifications in a Quality Assurance program or CSTE, CSQA, Six Sigma or CMMI.
•    Strong hands on development and scripting background (Java, VB, Python, Java Script, HTML, CSS, SQL etc).
•    Strong knowledge of system testing metrics, best practices and methodologies.
•    In-depth technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
•    In-depth technical knowledge of Mac OSX.
•    Familiarity with Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.
•    Strong understanding of virtual environments.
•    Experience testing legal-specific applications such as iManage, Intapp Time, BigHand Create, Elite, KofaxPDF and Workshare Pro.
•    Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
•    Experience working in a law firm or other professional service environment strongly preferred.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels.
•     Able to work under pressure to tight project deadlines and can adapt to differing demands, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise assigned workload to meet deadlines.
•    Able to demonstrate confidence and resilience to overcome obstacles to deliver what is required.
•    Able to adapt to and absorb new ideas and concepts.
•    Able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to be proactive, while also being able to follow instructions and provide support to IT Management.
•    Strong problem solving and analytical skills; can clearly explain and present problems and issues to others and contribute to their resolution.
•    High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts. 
•    Able to exercise tact and diplomacy in an organizational setting.
•    Methodical approach to work, with a strong focus on organization, quality and accuracy.
•    Understand the need for documentation and well-defined processes and procedures.
•    Keen attention to detail.
•    Able to interact positively at all levels within the firm and be a good team player.
•    Able to work effectively with minimal supervision and to contribute within a highly collaborative, virtual team environment.
•    Professional in outlook, attitude and appearance.
