POSITION SUMMARY


The Vancouver office is currently seeking an intermediate Legal Assistant to join our Corporate group. The Legal Assistant will offer a blend of skills and experience providing corporate and practice support within a team where collegiality and collaboration are key elements of how we work at Dentons. The position will require a confident and reliable individual to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities. The successful applicant must be team-orientated and accustomed to working as a team with other corporate assistants. RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Drafting, preparing and proofreading correspondence, accounts and various transactional documents and forms.
  • Opening, organizing and maintaining files both electronic and hard copy as required
  • Maintaining and organizing client contacts, files and various calendars
  • Preparing forms such as cheque requisitions, wire transfers, trust deposits, and expense reports
  • Prioritizing workflow to ensure completion of accurate work within established timelines
  • Dealing with and responding to client inquiries expeditiously and conducting follow up
  • General administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and meetings, preparing materials and working with other related Departments/services internally to provide documents and other materials on time to meet client needs
  • Managing administrative tasks including time entry and monthly billing cycle, in connection with billing coordinator
  • Updating and maintaining client/matter lists and current client contact records electronically to meet Dentons’ requirements
  • Demonstrating a team approach, ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality; accountability in relation to both internal and external clients to achieve outputs and goals for the Department and the Firm
  • Other legal administrative duties as assigned or required


REQUIREMENTS
 

  • Minimum of three (3) years solid work experience in a legal environment with exposure to Corporate/Commercial work including transactions
  • Legal Assistant diploma from an accredited institution 
  • Seasoned and proactive organizational/follow up skills; strong grammatical skills, including punctuation and proofreading, attention to detail and accuracy are required
  • Professional client and telephone manner and a proven track record of working with confidential information
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of accounting/docketing systems and document management systems (Elite and iManage) also an asset
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Able to meet deadlines, work well under pressure and take initiative using sound judgment
  • Professionalism demonstrated with colleagues, clients both in person and conversing by phone

The expected salary range for this role is $55,000 - $75,000.
