POSITION SUMMARY

 

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented junior to intermediate Legal Assistant to join our real estate team supporting the commercial/development scope of our practice. This role requires a self-starter—proactive, personable, organized, and detail-oriented—with a strong client-first mindset. They bring a willingness to learn, grow, and take on new challenges and are adaptable to shifting priorities. As a member of our real estate commercial/development team, your primary responsibility will be supporting our paraprofessionals with opportunity to support the broader team as needs arise.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a keen interest in real estate to learn from an experienced team and further develop their legal assistant and future paraprofessional skills. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Conducting title search and due diligence searches including tax, rural tax searches, BC Assessment, PPSA searches, etc.
  • Sourcing (electronically) and providing corporate documents (like CSR, Register of Director, etc.) for lawyers/paralegals
  • Supporting file and document organization processes including diarizing of dates, saving documents and correspondence in iManage, compiling documents
  • Filing of basic electronic documents with the Land Title office
  • Photocopying, scanning, compiling arranging for closing documentation
  • Preparing document packages for execution
  • Performing comparison of documents (using software)
  • Preparing internal accounting related documents in relation to real estate transactions including trust reconciliation
  • Assembly of closing books (electronic) and supporting with reporting to clients
  • Providing other administrative support to the real estate group, as required
  • Providing team overflow support as required

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant or conveyancer within a law firm, with a focus on residential and/or commercial real estate transactions.
  • Keen interest in expanding commercial real estate skillset
  • Proficient in document production, with competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of myLTSA and BC Registry Services.
  • Strong administrative capabilities paired with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented and committed to accuracy in all tasks.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, and at times, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and take initiative when appropriate.

The expected salary range for this role is $54,000 - $64,000, commensurate with experience. In the normal course, our practice is to hire, transfer and promote employees within the entry part of our range, adjusting as needed based on the prior experience, skills and competencies required for the role along with any market differentials.
