Manager, Canada New Business Intake

The Office of the General Counsel is seeking a Canada New Business Intake Manager to join the Business Acceptance Team in a new role in connection with the launch of Dentons Open (the firm’s new client-matter intake process).  This role will administer the new business intake software and support the end-to-end business intake process, including advanced troubleshooting, and supporting all members of the business acceptance team in efficiently using the new platform.  The role will also engage with key stakeholders (lawyers and assistants) to ensure efficient new matter intake, and resolve issues related to matter opening. 

 

The ability to learn and become proficient with new technology, and excellent verbal communication skills are required for this position.  The ability to communicate in French is an asset in this national role.  An understanding of new business intake in a large professional services firm (preferably, a law firm) would be beneficial.

 

Responsibilities

  • Become proficient working in the firm’s new client-matter intake platform, Dentons Open.
  • Learn the new business intake process, including the role of each group in the business acceptance team (Conflicts, Anti-Money Laundering, Finance, Engagement Terms and Client Records), and how each group uses Dentons Open as part of the matter intake process.
  • Act as primary point of contact for lawyers and administrative assistants, including overseeing changes to matter information through the matter intake process.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the business acceptance team and members of the global program implementation team to identify and solve system and process problems.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate issues (including technical system issues) as necessary.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and best practices for the use of the Dentons Open platform.
  • Contribute to the department's 'know how' system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with new technology quickly.
  • Experience in matter opening or management, and managing confidential information.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Experience in professional services (specifically, in the business service function of a law firm) is strongly preferred.

  • Able to analyze and recognize the need for improvement to systems and suggest options for improvement to the General Counsel and/or the Head of Conflicts.
