Purpose of Role

Helix is a modern legal delivery team focused on delivering high-quality, efficient and commercially relevant support through a combination of legal expertise, operational discipline, technology and data-led insight. The Operations Intern will support the team with operational coordination, data analysis, reporting and process improvement activity across live workstreams and internal projects. This role offers practical experience in legal operations, client service delivery, technology-enabled working and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Collect, organise and analyse legal and operational data relating to key workstreams, matter progress, deadlines, workload and service delivery.
• Assist with trackers, dashboards and summary reports that help the team understand status, performance, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Review existing workflows, templates and trackers to identify ways to improve efficiency, consistency and quality.
• Support process mapping and documentation of current ways of working, including key steps, handovers, stakeholders, dependencies and bottlenecks.
• Maintain accurate and organised documentation, including matter trackers, action logs, project notes and shared team resources.
• Prepare practical materials such as checklists, guidance notes, reporting templates and process documents to support consistent delivery.
• Liaise with colleagues to gather updates, clarify information and ensure data is complete, reliable and easy to use, supporting the team to draw actionable conclusions and identify practical next steps.

• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks to deadlines.
• Confidence working with data, including the ability to interpret information, identify trends and draw practical conclusions.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Power BI experience would be helpful but is not essential.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise information in a structured and concise way.
• Proactive, curious and collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
• Discretion and sound judgement when handling confidential or sensitive information.

Learning and Development Opportunity

The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in a modern legal delivery environment, with exposure to legal operations, data-led reporting, process improvement, project coordination and technology-enabled ways of working. The internship will provide practical insight into how operational excellence supports the delivery of high-quality legal services, and how data, technology and process discipline can be used to improve efficiency, decision-making and client service.
